Description
Tsinandali estate – a pearl associated with the Chavchavadze family, which is permeated with threads of amazing events in the rich history of Georgia.
The estate, located in the village of Tsinandali, has become a corner where past and present, history and beauty merge. Alexander Chavchavadze’s father, Garsevan Chavchavadze, held the honor of signing the Treaty of Georgievsk, and high-profile historical moments are associated with him. Garsevan participated in the opposition to Napoleon, making campaigns in Europe in 1812, 1813 and 1814. His biography highlighted pages of military exploits and the rank of lieutenant general. However, after seeing Europe, he decides to return to his roots.
Having taken possession of his family, Garsevan Chavchavadze moves to the quiet village of Tsinandali, where he begins to implement his ideas for the Europeanization of Georgia. He creates changes not only in architecture and planning, but also in garden compositions. An English garden blooms around the palace, and even gardeners were invited from Great Britain. But Garsevan's inspiration is not limited to garden areas. He brings winemakers from Europe, and together they create the first wine production plant using European methods. This is how the well-known wine “Tsinandali” is born.
The Tsinandali estate has become living proof of Chavchavadze’s ambitions, efforts and love for art and culture. It is a place where history collides with splendor and the past intertwines with the present in continuous harmony.
