Maxim Sukhanov is an outstanding Russian theater and film actor, laureate of the State Prizes of the Russian Federation. He was born on November 10, 1963 in Moscow. In 1985, he graduated from the Boris Shchukin Theater School and was accepted to the troupe of the Yevgeny Vakhtangov Theater. Sukhanov is often called a "mystery man" and an "actor-mystery" due to his unique acting psychophysics and ability to deeply transform.

Among his theater roles, one can highlight such as the Young Man in "The Boar", Meshem in "A Glass of Water", Peter the Great in "Our Sovereign, Our Father...", Cyrano in "Cyrano de Bergerac", Don Juan and Lear in the plays of the same names. His talent is highly appreciated by directors and viewers, which is confirmed by numerous awards, including three "Seagull" awards and a "Golden Mask" for the role of Cyrano.

Vladimir Mirzoev, a famous Russian director, emphasizes the uniqueness of Sukhanov, calling him a master of transformation. This is confirmed by the roles of Stalin in "Children of the Arbat", Chiklin in "The Foundation Pit", Stanislavsky in "Theatrical Novel". Maxim Sukhanov's film career began with the melodrama "Quiet Outpost" (1985), but he gained wide recognition after Valery Todorovsky's drama "Country of the Deaf". His film work includes the roles of Stalin in Burnt by the Sun 2, Boris Godunov in Vladimir Mirzoev's drama of the same name, Metropolitan Alexy in Andrei Proshkin's The Horde, and Sveneld in Andrei Kravchuk's The Viking.

Maxim Sukhanov is the winner of numerous Russian and foreign film awards, including the Nika, Golden Aries, and Anatoly Papanov special prizes. His contribution to art makes him one of the most significant figures in contemporary Russian theater and cinema.
