Description
Moby is one of the most influential musicians of the electronic music scene of the last three decades. Richard Melville Hall, born September 11, 1965, is known as an artist, producer, and composer, having sold over 20 million albums worldwide. His work helped bring dance music into the mainstream and had a huge influence on the development of the genre in the US and UK.
Moby's musical career began with punk rock: in the 1980s, he performed in underground bands, and in 1989 he moved to New York, where he became a DJ, producer, and remixer. His breakthrough single, "Go" (1991), became a hit in Europe. During the 1990s, he released several hit tracks, including "Move (You Make Me Feel So Good)," "Feeling So Real," and "James Bond Theme (Moby Re-Version)," while his 1999 album, Play, became a worldwide phenomenon, selling 12 million copies.
Following the success of Play, Moby continued to experiment with sound, releasing albums in the electronic, rock, downtempo, and ambient styles, and collaborating with orchestras, such as on Reprise (2021), which reimagined his well-known tracks with new sounds and vocalists. He remains active in both recording and performing live, regularly delighting fans worldwide.
Beyond music, Moby is known as a vegan and animal rights activist, as well as the author of books and photography projects. His creative contributions extend beyond music—he actively supports humanitarian and cultural initiatives.
