The Killers in Georgia

Description

The Killers are an American alternative rock band formed in 2001 by Brandon Flowers and Dave Kening. The name was taken from New Order's "Crystal" (2001) video clip, where a fake band performs under that name. The Killers' music is most clearly influenced by New Order, Duran Duran, U2 and Oasis.

The band has released seven studio albums: Hot Fuss (2004), Sam's Town (2006), Day & Age (2008), Battle Born (2012), Wonderful Wonderful (2017), Imploding the Mirage (2020) and Pressure Machine (2021). The first five albums hit number one in the UK and Ireland and sold over 25 million copies worldwide. In addition, the band released the compilation Sawdust (2007), the live album Live from the Royal Albert Hall (2009) and a greatest hits compilation called Direct Hits (2013).

Before the four members formed a group, they had gone through several different jobs. Flowers, a college dropout, once worked as a bellhop at the Gold Coast Hotel. Kening, originally from Iowa, moved to Las Vegas in 2000 after dropping out of his home state college. He worked as a sales clerk at a Banana Republic store, but quickly grew tired of the job. Stormer worked as a courier delivering medicines while also studying philosophy at the university. Vannucci attended university where he studied drumming and worked as a photographer and pedicure cyclist in a large supermarket.
